A golf ball bouncing out of the hole happens, even without the aid of a foam spacer. That being said, it’s a jarring sight, and a bad break capable of throwing even the best golfers in the world out of their rhythm. But not Rickie Fowler.
During the opening round of the Workday Charity Open, Fowler struck what appeared to be a perfect approach shot on the par-4 third hole at Muirfield Village. His golf ball hopped once and into the hole—only, it didn’t stay there. Have a look:

But this story has a (somewhat) happy ending. Fowler brushed off the disappointment of having his ball go from in to 10 feet away by rolling in the putt:
Nicely done, Rickie. It won’t go down as a bounceback birdie in your official stats, but perhaps it should.
